Post Your Week of Manufacture and Pre-installed OS Version

I've seen a lot of people looking for a way to find out whether a new iPhone 3G/3GS they're about to purchase will have 3.0 or 3.1 installed out of the box. To help them out, I'd like to gather information from people who've recently purchased iPhones about when their phones were manufactured and what OS came preinstalled on them.

If you look at your iPhone serial number, you can easily find out the year and week of manufacture. The third character will be the year of manufacture and the fourth and fifth will be the week of manufacture. So my serial number

88930XXX#XX

corresponds to a manufacture date in week 30 of 2009 (for those interested, week 30 this year encompassed the dates July 13 through July 19.

So, please post the following for your iPhone:

OS preinstalled: 3.0 or 3.01

I thought I explained it above. Some people (particularly those who need to use their phones on other carriers) need to know whether the phone will have the new OS (which is not unlockable).

It really depends on where you buy them and how quickly they go through stock. Some places are selling phones manufactured back in July or early August which definitely have 3.0 on them.

Well if you buy your phone at an Apple store, the odds of you getting a 3.0 are likely slim, and even if they had old stock, you get what they bring you from the stock room. It's not like they let you pick through a pile of boxes.

I bought a new 3Gs to replace my 3g this past Thursday, 10/1. My build says 937, but mine was preinstalled with 3.1
