My friend got a new 11. He dropped the sim card in the sink somehow (idk lol). The sim card was dried off etc then put into the iPhone. Hes worried about water damage.

I told him the phone can be dunked in water for minutes and be fine.

Can more ppl chime in? ty

He should be fine.

The SIM card, not the phone was dropped in water?

Other than corrosion on the contacts of the SIM, I don't think water would hurt it. Even for corrosion to happen, I would expect for the SIM to be in water for a very long time.

hey I just asked him. He said the SIM card got a little damp and was dried off immed. No water came in contact with the phone. He’s just worried the (Maybe) damp sim card made the phone damp too ? If that makes sense

Every SIM I have seen has been plastic and non-porous, no reason to think a little water will hurt anything.

Just squeezing it in a hand towel or paper towel should dry it.

Truth be told, if it happened to me, I would probably just wipe it on my shirt or pants, and stick it back in.
