I'd like to use my Mac as a PortScript print server but I don't want to use Mac OS X Server for compatibility reasons. Is there any software for doing this (with good support for Canon printers)?

At work, we use a dedicated G4 to run the rip software for our Epson printer. It runs on an ordinary installation of Panther and is accessed through the shared printers by each machine in the network.

Can you not run something like PowerRipX but with Canon drivers?

Or something like this? It has a demo version...

Canon (and Lexmark) do not provide support for 3rd-party driver developers. So it seems I will be forced to buy an HP printer (I need duplexing).
