Hey all,

Im up for some new product, and am thinking of stepping into the Apple Ecosystem because I value my privacy!
And from what I heard Apple is the best choose here (out of the limited options unfortunately).
I had an ipod a long long time ago, but for the rest ive only had Android or windows stuff, so it would be a big switch... But like i said i value my privacy, and on top of that now a days there isnt even that big of a prize diffrence between some off the Flagship products form lets say Apple and Samsung etc.

Im looking for a new Phone and want to buy new Ipad too. Now for tablets there are some new ones coming out soon. Now I know I want to go for the 11 inch one, but am not sure whats the better choose between the Pro and Air, especially because i like to use my product for quite some time(im like to really live out my product so to say, so im not into buying a new product every 2 years, that you see a lot of people do with their phones for example), so im curious what the views on on which ones is thought to be the Best + better future proof???

Further I want/need a new phone, and again am looking for some input on what is seen as the best future proof choose? I would here go for the Normal or the Pro version (no max for me, my hands are tiny so that wont work ;) I've also seen some news items here that the iphone 14 would (probably) get a bigger RAM, that is needed for the bigger apps etc that the future will bring. So im curious what the views are on that?

any input is appropriated! especialy about what the most important noticable diffrences are for both product between the Normal(ipad iar/ iphone) vs the Pro versions of both!
Im not a gamer or anything, but because of health issues i am on my products almost 24/7 to play sometimes app games, but noware profresional or anyting, but mostly i watch a lot of tv shows, and am on social stuff a lot. But i dont really need the devices for photoshoping of photos and stuff, maybe only cropping videos and or splicing some vids together etc.

I would say that any high end flagship product from the iPhone and iPad line will not become redundant for a minimum of 5 years. The lower RAM on a Apple products isn’t too important as iOS is very efficient compared to Android, so don’t worry about that.

I own several older iPhones and a sixth gen iPad. The iPad is 2018 vintage and my iPhone 6s+ is 2015 vintage. Both are running iOS 15, the latest version of iOS. My 6s+ has it's own line still, a backup to my 11 Pro Max.

The rest of my old iPhones are used for various things they are still capable of doing (like streaming media).

So, for 'future proofing' take that as you will.

The great thing about Apple is the longevity of the hardware and the OS Support. We’ve still got an iPhone 7plus and 2 iPad 9.7” Pros from 2016 and 2015 respectively that are still getting OS updates.

Unless you’re an existing Power user, I’d say you would be fine with something like the 13 or 13 Pro.

As for iPads, that you may want to hang on for for a couple of months to see what Apple releases in and around Spring.

And oh, Welcome to the club and your English is fine!

I had an iPad Air 2 at one point I sold off. Wish I'd kept it as it would work great in my car for GPS/Nav. Instead, I have an old crappad LG G-Pad tablet with a bad screen and horrible lag running an Android version that is terribly out of date.

Anyway, that's what'll happen to my 6th gen iPad when we finally update (no idea when that will happen). But right now, not interested in having my car broken in to for a 4-year old iPad.

You can’t go wrong buying any tier of whatever Apple product you’re interested in. While Apple doesn’t sell junk, their lowest level tier of any product category is usually intentionally hobbled to create a desire to purchase the next better model which costs more.
So don’t buy their cheapest model because you’ll undoubtedly feel cramped on it in short time - and you will also be perfectly fine avoiding the most expensive top spec model too.

Just aim for products in the middle and you’ll get the most fun stuff for your money.

Hey,

Thanks All for your insights and points of view!

I thought of some another question, because im totally new to the Apple Ecosystem,
- What accessories etc should I (definitely) buy from Apple, and which can I just as good buy from other makers? for if im getting an Iphone Pro and Ipad 11" (dont know if it will be the Air or Pro jet)
- And also does it matter if you buy directly from Apple (i dont know if there are any pirks(?) to that) or if you buy from a certified Apple reseller?

And @TiggrToo I was indeed planning to wait for the upcomming Ipad updates this Spring(Just the Air is getting a update right?), So ill probably will come back here by that time, to ask what the big diffrences are ;)

Good Night!

I’m not sure how authorized retailers work around the world but if it’s like our cellular carrier stores you’re perfectly okay buying from them; just beware restocking fees.

Accessories: I’d recommend buying something cheap from Amazon to start. Apple’s cases are nice but there’s definitely better for less.

Check out this thread for ideas: https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...ur-new-iphone-13-mini-pro-max-merged.2309488/

Apple charges a premium for cables. You can get Apple cables elsewhere (like on eBay or Amazon) for much less. Or go with third party. There are several manufacturers out there who make premium cables that are Apple certified and often better than what Apple sells.

The same generally applies to other accessories. Just because you jump into the ecosystem, it doesn't mean you are bound to it or prohibited from using alternatives.

I purchased what was advertised as a genuine Apple lightning cable on eBay and when I got it, the box was identical (except it had some Chinese writing on it) and the cable looked identical to a genuine Apple cable. But on further examination with a magnifying glass of the lightning plug, I could see slight differences.
This new “eBay Apple” cable didn’t work properly on my iPhone so I had to purchase another one directly from Apple - and the 2nd one worked perfectly.

I obviously had bad luck getting ripped off by an eBay seller selling counterfeit Apple gear, but that experience was enough. I’ll never buy Apple accessories except directly from Apple from now on.

I agree about eBay. It is too risky with accessories. A lot of the accessories are fakes, especially the new battery packs.

Walmart sells genuine Apple cables and accessories. You have to talk to the clerks though because they keep it all locked up.

I have been using official Apple cables since I began using the iPhone a decade ago. Their lightning cables are cheap and don’t appear to last long. I have purchased a Belkin USB-C to lightning cable for my 20w fast charger and the quality seems to be significantly higher. We will see how it performs long term.

Okay, So the new products for this season have lounged (?)

So what are the thoughts on the New Ipad Air vs the old one and also in comparison to the Ipad Pro 2021?

There are several manufacturers out there who make premium cables that are Apple certified and often better than what Apple sells.
Also would you mind pointing me to the above mentioned makers/products?

And yeah on the point of accesories/add ons, I was mostly looking at maybe getting that Magic keyboard (floating) thing, and am still debating if I should do the apple pen or not, ill probably would buy that later if needed (and wouldnt be suprised if there are great alternatives for that)
For just plain cases I indeed would just go off brand for sure ;)

I will also get a lose SSD Drive for most of my movie/series files and pictures > and like i said i dont really edit stuff and game big games.
So with that in mind, any imput on what storage options to atleast pick, i know that the lowest options are mostly not incuraged (sorry dont know the term, but you get what i mean) for the Ipad, but even more for the Iphone 13 pro

Thanks xx

Belkin.

Anker.

Moshi.

Both Belkin and Moshi are also in the Apple store. A lot of people on this forum site also swear by Anker.

The lower RAM on a Apple products isn’t too important as iOS is very efficient compared to Android, so don’t worry about that.

False. Based on my experience developing for both, Android can run on far less resources than iOS. Of course I am referring to base Android, not the specialized versions such as Samsung uses. 6GB is plenty of RAM for most mobile devices, but also, Apple has strict limits on how much RAM an app can use, which must be adhered to in the final product or it won't make it to the App Store.
