Hello everyone,

I have the 2020 iPad Pro 12.9 and I bought a USB C hub for it with PD pass-through.

Now because the included USB C cable isn’t long enough, I am charging the iPad through the USB C Hub PD port using a USB A to USB C cable connected to an Anker 40W 5-port USB 5V/8A power adapter, but the iPad does not charge (it says ‘not charging’).

Does anyone know whether it’s because the power adapter isn’t providing enough power, or perhaps it’s the cable?

If it’s the power adapter, what would be the minimum specs I should look for to charge the iPad through the USB C hub PD port?

Thanks!

First of all, you're not going to get Power Delivery out of the USB-A ports. It's not part of the spec. You might get 10W from USB-A and maybe even just 2.5W because of the adapter.

You need a single USB-C cable rated for at least 30W. They are fairly inexpensive on Monoprice.
