iPad Pro 12.9

i have connected the audio DAC and power through a usb dock
whenever the power is switched on the YouTube stops
this is with the 20 w charger supplied with ipad

it also does not charge

is 20 w charger not sufficient to charge when using as pass through dock?

i need higher wattage charger?


i find 30w charger osf MacBook sir works fine

Depends on the dock and what you have plugged into it. Your power adapter will need to power all the devices, unless they have their own power supply. I can see why a 20W adapter would be unhappy.

I have an Anker USB C dock that … for whatever reason pulls an insane amount of power from the wall despite not doing anything. For example: Nothing plugged into it, it’s burning hot and the power supply to the dock is warm. I found that a 20-30w power supply was not enough for it - so I used a MacBook Pro charger for it for the longest time (now a 100w Anker charger - which is burning hot despite no usage). Makes me feel bad about all that power loss … but unplugging/plugging will result in a loose USB C port.

TLDR: These docks seem to suck a lot of power - I’m not surprised 20w isn’t enough.
