Hi everyone,

I've visited the forums here a handful of times but this is my first time posting. I haven't found many posts relating to the problem I am having and I'm at the point where I'm too mixed up to know what course of action to take so I figured it was time to turn to people who really know what they are doing. For starters I have a 1st generation 8GB Iphone (1.1.4) that I initially jailbroke / unlocked with ZiPhone, which I now understand was in all likelihood a big mistake though everything seemed to work just fine. After playing around with everything for a few weeks I wanted to upgrade to the 2.0 firmware so I could run more apps, save pictures in safari, more customizable themes and bug fixes etc. I was able to successfully upgrade to 2.0 with winpwn, only I noticed that my WiFi signal seemed to have dropped a bit, though it still always works when in close enough range of a hotspots. Later, in an attempt to correct that issue I upgraded to the 2.2 firmware by restoring the phone with a custom ipsw a guy had posted along with a guide on the net. The upgrade was successful, but after installing a bunch of apps, putting some tunes/videos on there, customizing my theme with winterboard I started having trouble with my power/sleep button. There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the button physically because it works sometimes, then it will become unresponsive.. Then I'll take a phone call, browse the web, play a video or something and the power button will work perfectly again, I can turn the iPhone off / on as many times as i want with no problems. But after the phone sits in sleep mode for a few minutes the only way to wake it back up is to press the home button, and then the power button will not turn it back off and I have to wait for it to auto sleep. Also if I power down the phone completely and leave it off for more than a few minutes i cannot power the phone back up without plugging it into the iPhone dock. Even plugging it into the cord directly through wall socket or usb plug wouldn't boot it up, only when i plug it into the dock.. Very Strange. So now I've backed up all of my contacts, apps, photos, themes etc. and would really like to try to restore the phone to it's original state and jailbreak/unlock it to the most up to date firmware possible properly in an attempt to correct these issues, only I'm afraid I'll somehow wind up bricking my phone completely. What should I do?? I'm at my wits end with this power button issue and I would greatly appreciate any help you guys can offer.

Thanks!

Power button issues still!

So I went ahead and did a fresh jailbreak on my iphone with quickpwn to version 2.2.1 and I'm still having issues with my power button! It works, then it doesn't work. Then later it'll work again, even later it stops working again. What can cause this?? Help me Please!
