Power consumption Mac Pro

I compared these 3 machines.
MacPro 1440 watts (not hot on the backside)
G5 Dual Core 700 watts (hot on the backside)
iMac (monitor included) 241 watt (hot)
Are these numbers reliable?

I think 1440 Watts is way overboard.

Apple says it's under 300W with CPUs at maximum for the newer machines, which corresponds to what the load reads on my UPS units. My Mac Pro is hooked to an SUA1500, which is 980W. Also plugged into the same UPS is my 8-disk RAID box, filled with eight WD 2TB RE-4 discs. When it's going full steam, I only see three of five load bars max, so I'm halfway to 980W, nowhere near 1440W.

Besides, the power supply inside the Mac Pro is also only 980W.

Numbers for my Mac Pro in sig:

Idle: ~100W (No drives spinning)
CPU Load: ~250W
CPU + GPU Load: ~400W.

Generally speaking MacPro 5,1 2 x 2.93 with 64GB RAM is at about 370W idle with apps open. When it's really working, have seen it go up above 500W, but generally around 425-475W during renders (based on APC unit's display).

Never have seen over 300 watts on my 5,1 machine that would be full load on all six cores/twelve threads encoding h264 video, both my Kill-A-Watt meter and iStat menus confirm this, usually it idles at 160w.
