The power cord on my wife’s 5k 27” iMac rubbed on the hole in the stand and shorted out. It happened to be on a GFCI outlet so no other damage. I’ve replaced the power cord but would like to prevent this in the future. Is there any type grommet that fits in that hold to keep the cord from rubbing directly on the metal? My searches have turned up nothing except the grommets for holes in desks and counters.

Wrap the cord in some (white) electrical tape around the area where the hole is. It won't completely prevent the issue but the tape will be much more durable than the cable's normal insulation.

You could also make your own grommet with some clear silicone caulking. I don't know which would be cheaper. I can guarantee though that any bespoke iMac-stand-hole-grommet will be hilariously overpriced.

It will be difficult to find something that perfectly matches the diameter of the hole in the stand, but if you get something close, you can cut it and leave a small gap at the top.

Perhaps a grommet, a short piece of clip-on weatherstripping; something of that ilk. A good indie hardware store that has one of those Hillman hardware drawer sections would offer a lot of possibilities.

Alternatively, get a short section of split cable tubing, corrugated, spiral, woven or otherwise, and insulate the section of the cord that goes through the hole. It's cheap and easy to find.

I’m thinking some u channel weatherstripping might work well. I didn’t expect to really find something designed for it based on the searches I tried but it’s always worth a try.
