Power LED pulse on Sleep

Is anybody missing the slow Power LED pulse for sleep? It's a wonderful tool to confirm the state of your Mac.

Did Apple ever state, why the stopped doing this?

Perhaps we should start a campaign to get it back - not that Apple would listen.

It wasn't needed anymore? The last Mac that I owned that had the pulse light also had a spinning disk drive, and it was useful for knowing that the machine was asleep before moving it. With SSDs, that's not an issue.

It is still good to know, whether a desktop or MacBook are sleeping.
I had a runaway background app on my MacBook that prevented sleep and the battery was empty overnight.
