My Quicksilver worked a few hours ago. I needed to shut it off to go to a party. When I plugged it back in, it would no longer start up and the power light would turn on when I held the button and turned off when released. The fans rattle and that is it. I tried resetting the PMU, reseating the CPU, reseating the RAM and PSU cables, unplugging everything except for the board and the monitor. Nothing worked. :(
I hope it isn't the power supply because it costs over $100 on eBay which is more than I paid for the computer. If I have to sell an arm and a leg, I would gladly. Any help would be appreciated.

i had the same issue with my QS, turned out one of the hard drives kicked the bucket and was causing the machine to fail to boot. i would say, try unplugging the hard drive power from the hard drives first and see if that makes the mac boot.

Any answers to this question? My G4 just started to have the same problem. The somewhat new pram battery is showing over 3.6v. Also, I've run this G4 in the past with a nearly dead battery, and it was fine except for losing the date/time whenever it was shut down.

I'm somewhat suspicious that it is the power supply, although that would be extremely coincidental since just yesterday I got a repaired power supply back for my other G4 quicksilver, and got it running for the first time in 3 years. Has this other power supply really died on me just 1 day later?

Google “Hair Dryer Trick, PSU”.

Yes I laughed when a good friend first mentioned this to me but later found that it did work with one of my Quicksilvers… until I finally replaced that PSU. *Always low heat setting, directly through the back of the machine.;)
