Power mac g5 boot from disc problems

So i'm trying to install 10.3 panther for my g5 power mac I have the disc but everytime I hold c (or any button for that matter) the disc drive keeps popping open, if anybody could help with that that would be great

Holding C doesn't always work, try pressing Option and then selecting your Panther disc. Also make sure your Panther disc is newer than the version of Panther that model G5 shipped with or that it is the correct restore disc for your model.

That's an interesting thing (meaning, news to me). I've never had the C key not work.

My guess, this is probably the issue.

I've tried holding option too, everything seems just seem to open the disk drive.

I got it to boot from disc the other day but had the wrong disc soo Im not sure on the issue perhaps cause im using a windows keyboard?

A non-Apple keyboard shouldn't be a problem. You'd just have to hold the alt key on it for Option.
