My IMAC G5 10.5.8 computer shuts itself off after use. Then it won't start until I unplug the cord and wait awhile. I called a certified repairman and he said it's probably the power manager or motherboard problem.

I'd like to reset it. I think it's a 2005 but I cannot remember exactly. Its non intel. I see info on opening it, removing fan assembly etc but does anyone have a good site that would take me through with pics?

If anyone has any additional advice, I'd sure appreciate it!!

I found:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2173

I have pushed the SKU button so hopefully that's all there is to it (crossed fingers). The power was getting to it just fine.

I guess it's the motherboard otherwise. I know it would be $1100 for a new mac but I really cannot afford it now so I hope a motherboard isn't too much or too difficult because at this point I'd have to try it.

Now I am reading the SMU button isn't the same as Power Management

Is that a separate issue/fix?
