Hi everyone!

Is there a way to power down the USB ports during sleep? They seem to only power down during standby (hibernation) which can come many hours later. I have a laptop cooler/stand I put my laptop on. I'd like the fans to turn off when I close the lid and the computer goes to sleep.

This is on a late 2013 15" MBP running Sonoma.

Thanks!

One solution I've found is to set hibernatemode to 25. This skips sleep and goes straight into hibernate (standby), for which USB ports are not powered. This is not ideal because waking from standby is way slower. Is there anything else we can come up with?

How about something like this?

No, it's not "a software solution".
But it WILL WORK if you don't mind physically "flipping the switch".

There are others that are available.
Perhaps one with a shorter cable.
(search for "usb cable power on off switch")
