i've had quite a few iPods over the years, which has left with a few limited use FireWire power bricks. lately, they've just been used for charging purposes, but i was wondering if you could charge the iphone with them. i don't see why not, as it's the same dock connector. anyone tried this?

Yeah, firewire version works fine.

Something else that I've been using as a leftover from previous mac purchases. I use the USB keyboard extension cord (included in several mac models) to make my charging cable longer so I can talk on the phone when seated at my desk. I find the standard charging cable to be just a little too short.
