Hi, considering getting myself an iMac. I'm currently using a MBP so I'm used to the luxury of having power even when power cuts out. So what features does the iMac power supply have? How does it cope with power cutting out? And how does it cope with voltage spikes? Do most people get a uninterruptible power supply (UPS)?

Right. Are they still loud monsters, or has the technology gotten better? Back in the PC days I had a box that weighed over 10kg and was louder than, well, an old PC. Wouldn't like to return to that.
no, the iMac's are quiet , ok you still can hear some noise , as there are moving parts like fans and harddrive and optical drive inside , but i would not describe it as loud , i have a couple eMac's from 2005 and even those i dont consider as loud , they are just humming along as their fans run at constant speeds ,
every Mac makes some noise , ok my iMac G3 from 2001 could be described as total silent with only occasional hdd noise from time to time , but thats the only Mac that is that silent ,due to having no fan at all and the samsung spinpoint inside is one of the most silent HDD's ever been on the market

Don't think I said that right. Are the Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS) still loud monsters? I know iMacs are quiet, everything Apple makes these days are exceptionally quiet (given no defects).
