so. im pretty sure my imac G5 suffered the worst of a power surge. im pretty sure its worthless to fix, because im pretty posotive that the motherboard and processor at least is fried. just wondering whether any fixing is more reasonable than buying a used one from somewhere. ohh, and also is he hard drive affected from the surge?

If you say so; No and Maybe, in that order.

Was the machine plugged into a name-brand surge suppressor? You may be able to claim insurance replacement from the surge suppressor manufacturer if it was.

Did you check your homeowners or renters insurance policy?

no, for some reason my brother didn't have it plugged into a surge supressor, and there is a $1500 deductible on the homeowners insurance
