My beloved G3 Kanga appears to have just 'thrown a wobbly'. It booted to the smiley Mac and stayed on that icon for ages. Same on following start attempt. Pulled battery & power cord and retried. Now it boots to the Mac folder with question mark. Ditto on subsequent attempts, so I suspect the HD has failed.
I also have a Powerbook 3400c and several other G3 powerbooks, namely Wallstreet and Lombard. Can anyone advise if these other HDrives are compatible with the G3 Kanga? Unfortunately I don't have any compatible Mac OS 8 disks.
Also as a long shot are there any tips and tricks to attempt to revive a hard drive of this period?
Thanks in advance.

Generally if a drive is cooked a drive is cooked and you *really* don't want to attempt resuscitation, though there have been cases where it worked.

A 3400c HDD will work just fine on a Kanga, and I'm pretty sure other G3 Series machines' drive will also work, but as the Kanga has a slower bus, that'll be a bottleneck.
