I've read quite a few threads on this, and a lot of it is contradictory. I have this EVGA windows video card:

I saw on GPU-Z that this card requires 250w powered by an 8-pin and 6-pin connector. I'd like to power the 8-pin directly from the PSU using a data adapter like this one:

Or a molex adapter like this one:

The wires feeding the SATA seem pretty small, as small as the traces that feed the 6-pin G5 connector.
What are the thoughts on the best way to power this GPU?
