I have a MacBook Pro 2.2 GHZ Santa Rosa with Mac OS 10.5.5 and Windows XP SP 3 installed. I have bootcamp 2.1 drivers installed and everything runs perfectly on it. The only problem I have, is that when I put the laptop into standby, then come back later and wake it up the USB ports will not work with anything. No power seems to be running through them because my optical mouse will not power on, nor will my USB flash drive. It's really inconvenient, so what I want to know is if anyone else has this problem? Is there anything in device manager that I can disable then re enable to jump start the ports?

Another issue: Sometimes it won't always go into standby... I can have it on battery power or AC power with nothing plugged in and it will go into standby for 1 second then wake right up again. This doesn't always happen though, it's very odd.

FYI: None of these problems are present in Mac OS X, so it's OS/ driver related only.

Thanks!

Well I guess no one has the solution to this problem.

Am I alone on this? Am I the only one who has this issue?

I would recommend bringing up the XP Device Manager and checking the Power Management properties for the listed USB Root Hubs. You can do this by right clicking on My Computer, selecting the Hardware tab, and click on Device Manager. After its brought up, go down to Universal Serial Bus controllers and expand the list so you can see all the items. Right click on each USB Root Hub and check if under the Power Management properties the computer is allowed to shut off those ports/devices to save power.

Ahhhh interesting, I will have to try that when I'm in XP again.

Thanks so much for the advice!!

Update: I believe what JediMeister suggested worked!! I put it into standby after making the change in the properties and woke it up after a few minutes and the USB ports worked just fine!! Thanks again!
