Has anyone tried hooking up powerline adapters to get a hard wire connection of sorts to your HTPC?

It might help if you were more specific and said that you were talking about Ethernet over power lines. "Powerline adapters" and "hard wired connection" are somewhat vague terms and many might not know what you are talking about.

I have not used them but I have heard that both parts of the Ethernet over power line adapter have to be on the same breaker. I do not know if this is true but I thought it was worth mentioning.

I use Belkins Powerline HD. Speed has been adequate for most video streaming from my home server. Connection is solid - much more so than wireless.
