Hey guys, my friend is selling his powermac G4. He wants $159 for it (that's what it cost him to upgrade his laptop).

Here are the specs..

g4 400 Mhz

1 gig RAM

10 gig hardrive (yes, he took out the standard hd)

zip drive

combo drive

All else standard.

Is $159 a good price? How much is the machine probably worth?

Hard to tell since there were more than one G4 400mhz. Was it PCI graphics version, the AGP, or gigabit ethernet? You would have some upgrade options with the GE version. Anyways, you may want to look here to get a rough estimate at what it may be worth. :)

For an AGP (Sawtooth) powermac G4, that is a pretty good deal, because you get a ton more upgrade options.
For a PCI (Yikes) powermac G4, that is not really worth it, because it is just a slightly modified powermac G3, and there are a lot fewer upgrade options
In short, AGP-buy
PCI-don't buy
