Powerpoint 2011 for Mac - Exit animation not working

Hi,
I'm trying to make an exit animation [fade out] work on click. But, when I click the image disappears instead of fading out.
Sequence is: image fades in, I click, image fades out [I've tried fast and slow]. Except it just disappears with no fade.
