Just thinking of the old Acorn RISCOS computers.

The motherboard used to have a ARM based CPU as normal, however you used to be able to buy a x86 processor that used to slot into the motherboard. Meaning, you could use the ARM processor for RISCOS, and the x86 processor to Windows nativly within RISCOS.

Wouldn't it be cool if Apple did the same thing with PPC and x86 on the PowerMacs.

P.S. Any old RISCOS users here?

It will never happen, unless you are willing to pay like $15,000 for one computer, and I doubt Apple will even sell (nor make) that money to start with, so there goes their already teeny economies of scale!

As generik has said, the chances of Apple doing this are slim to none.

Is there some plugin that automatically bolds the username of the person you replied to?

That automatically happens when you quote someone, you can also use the bold tags to do it.

I think he means in your actual reply, not the quote box. The only way I know how to do it is manually.

Apple did this about 12 years ago, but with the 680x0 rather than the PPC. With the introduction of the PPC, Apple dropped its Intel card in favor of SoftWindows. For all of the fan enthusiasm for the idea of running MS-DOS/Windows on a Mac, the enthusiasm for the idea translated into few sales. In this light, Connectix (now Microsoft) is to be commended for its success with Virtual PC.

Apple has actually done this on several occasions....right off the top of my head I can think of the Appple II card for LC Macs, and the DOS Compatiblity Card (486DX2) for the PowerMac 6100.

The problem with this config is mostly cost and lack of upgradability for the card - dual booting is a WAY better solution.
