Other Pre-Order Apple In-Store Pick Up (How long do they hold the phone for?)

Was thinking to pre-order tonight for in-store pick up at my local Apple Store. But I won’t be able to pick it up on release day. How long does Apple hold your phone for? Would I lose my pre-order if I didn’t pick it up day 1?
