I have no idea where to look. My daughter wants the iPhone Xs Maxx and she wants to pay for it, and she’s on my plan. So I figured since it’s my phone plan, I would have to preorder it.

Now I am assuming I would have to do a pick up at Apple, so then they can charge her credit card and not mine. So when it’s ready to be picked up, I take her with me, and she pays? This way she can pay and do whatever (the Apple deal where she pays monthly).

If she is listed as authorized user on your carrier account she can upgrade her line and you would not have to do this for her. However if she was to add a new line, then you may need to do it.

If this is the case, yes, you both would go (provided that you are the account holder) and she can pay, there should be no problem doing it this way.

Sweet, thanks! I don’t want to make her an authorized user... we’ll all have new phones or something. :p
I like the monthly payments will get charged to her too.

Then Yes, you will have to pre-order it for her and go together to the store and charge it on her credit card.

I don't think it's necessary to use her Apple ID when ordering. You can use your account to order.
So o did the preorder and I used the app due the store being down. It was my credit card and my Apple ID, so when we pick it up on Friday, I can changed the credit card to my daughters?

Sorry doe the questions, this is the 1st time I am doing it this way.

I maybe wrong and someone can chime in on this, but have you checked or order page and see if you can change the credit card? Otherwise you can contact Apple and see if they can change the payment info (as long as they haven't actually process the payment you can do this). I believe they can do this at the apple store when you pick it up, but they may have to return it and redo the whole process again. Give Apple a call.

I figured since this is a pick up, I might not get charged until I pick it up from the store. There was no option for the payment except in full also, and she wants to do that deal where she pays so much a month and gets a new siphoned every year.

so I called Apple and they said they can do a return that day and my daughter can buy it.

Thanks for your help!

So I learned what I did wrong. I preordered a sim free phone and not an AT&T on. I read when you did the Apple program, the phone was unlocked, so I figured sim free.
I saw a post by macrumors that you can’t do the sim free with the Apple program. Oh well. I’ll see if they can fix this at the Apple store, if not, oh well. I learned now.
