Huawei-Watch1.jpg

i went ahead and pulled the trigger on the Huawei smartwatch. Went with the $349 stainless steel silver version and leather strap. I'll dump the leather for a band of my own choosing. I couldn't justify $449 for a black version. $100 for the color black? Really???

After, looking at all the options, this is the one with the best specs and has an OLED screen, unlike my current Moto 360, or even the new Moto 360. No wireless charging, but it does have quick charging capabilty and I happen to have several quick chargers now. 286ppi on a 1.4" screen puts it right up there with the Apple watch, but with a traditional round screen, which is what I prefer.

Double sapphire crystal display means, that I won't be bothering with a screen protector and cold rolled forged stainless steel, means no reason to protect the case of the watch.

Should be to me by 18 Sept.

I pre-ordered too, though sprung for the black because I like it way more. Very interested to experience how Android Wear plays with iOS. Any particular reviews or write-ups (of other watches presumably) you'd recommend? I've seen a bunch but am hungry for more. I'm an Apple guy through and through but can't get my arms around the design of Apple Watch even though functionally it provides much more than Android Wear (with iOS).

I actually changed my order and went with the black bezel/black steel band as well. I have the champagne gold Moto 360 right now with a black steel butterfly clasp band now and knew I wouldn't be happy with the silver colored watch.
As for any new reviews or write-ups, there aren't any. Just rehashes of everything from IFA. They all say the same thing though, that the Huawei watch is the benchmark for style/premium build for Android Wear. (Although I think the gold version with the ridged bezel is gawdy. Not just the ridges, but the color just doesn't seem right to me. They should have used a more understated champagne color, vice Rolex in your face colored gold.)

Congrats on the color change :)

And agree about the gold Huawei. Awful. And such a strange whiff when the other two models are so nice.

On reviews, I was thinking more Android Wear + iOS in general, not the Huawei Watch specifically.

Getting very excited for the 17th. Hopefully Huawei ships them out for arrival on the 17th rather than shipping on the 17th.
