I spent some time in the Apple store yesterday in Brandon. After breaking down one of the guys, he told me that they've reserved over 400 already. The rep said that they were in talks with mall staff to figure out and manage the crowd they are expecting.

Good times ! While I was there, I changed my pre-order from a 16gig WIFI to a 32. Thoughts?

Also, any know how to send iCal to Google Calendar? Google to iCal is set but not reverse.

The Brandon and Tampa stores are the closest to me. I live up near Ocala. I had to have mine shipped as I cannot drive down that far with my little ones.

I don't think I would like waiting in line that long and the drive back would kill me waiting to load all my data on it.

im considering changing from a 16 to a 32 as well but cant decide

I went with the 32GB because I figured with larger display App size is going to increase and we should see more games appear on the iPad than the iPhone in the future.

Agreed. I went with a 32 GB as well for myself. 16 GB just seems a tad to small. I make due with an iPhone 2G 8 GB model. Works very well but since this will have such a large screen I also think I will be watching more movies, shows and just storing more items in general. 16 GB would be sufficient, I am sure but 32 GB will allow me much more freedom.

hey ocala; there's an Apple Store much closer to you in north Orlando: Altamonte Springs

And there are 2 more in Orlando area - the Millennia Mall one is excellent

luck...

I"m down near the Villages and normally go to FL Mall or Millenia.

Brandon took me 90 minutes for a repair, and they take 50-60. Altamonte takes about the same - but the traffic that way bites. I'd rather jump on the Turnpike!

Oh yeah, he also told me that the employees get 50% of any iPad but cant buy until june or july.

Do you have 10.6? If so, just go into iCal Prefs, click on Accounts and Add the account -- use your GMail login info and your calendar should show up.

Yes, my google is showing up in my iCal but iCal is not showing my google which is the issue. i have an Android phone and google is the calendar supported. Its making my want to break things.

I can't break tmobile cause my darling wife works there and gets a massive discount for our phones. I haven't used a jailbroken iPhone because i am paranoid of problems after having my xBOX banned for being modified.

I have a 32GB iPhone with about 8 pages of apps and 3 days of music (according to iTunes) encoded at 256Kbps or higher and am still well shy of using 16GBs. I won't be putting hardly any music on my iPad. Books and apps are relatively small. So unless you are going to pack it with video 16GBs should be more than enough. It's why I chose a 16GB model.

So it really comes down to how you'll use it. I can see a case for each model.

I anticipate Apps to grow in size with a larger displays. Mainly when it comes to games. But I also plan to load a few movies at a time on mine and music along with it. This is why I opted for the 32GB model. I plan on using this mostly at work in my office.

CalDav gives you 2 way sync, the trick is creating all of your calendars in Google and then adding them to iCal via CalDav. I have 5 calendars (1 personal and 4 work-related) sync this way.

I don't understand your first sentence, it sounds like you are saying yes Google shows up in iCal, but then you say iCal is not showing your Google.

I ment to say that that if I write an event in google, it will automatically send that event to iCal but the reverse does not work for me. If I write an event in iCal, it will not shoot to google.

i was on the fence with this as well and realized the 16gig is the better buy for me. Since the iPad is going to be a slave to my macbook pro, anything I need stored will be on the macbook. I doubt I will be putting music on it and I can load whatever movies i want on it and remove them when done since they will be stored on my macbook. I can manage my files easily with 16gigs of storage and to be honest I think anything more will be overkill unless your main storage for everything will be the iPad itself. I rather save the $100 and use it on other more important things then an extra 16gigs of memory :p

iPad OS is a lot larger than that of the iPhone. Apps and games will be way way larger than their iPhone counter parts.

Irregardless of how you will use the iPad, you will run out of space a lot faster on a 16GB iPad compared to a 16GB iPhone.

1) There is no such thing as iPad OS. The iPad uses a version of iPhone OS.

2) There is no evidence to suggest that iPad apps will be appreciably larger than iPhone apps. We are talking 10s of MBs, if that. App developers that hang around MR have even posted as much. A bigger screen does not necessarily equate to a fatter file. And lazy developers that can't manage to remove the cruft from their apps will have a hard time selling them.

3) Irregardless is not a word. It's just "regardless."

4) How is my specific use of my iPad not dependent on how quickly my iPad will fill up? It's flawed logic to presume iPads will, by default, fill up faster than iPhones/Touches.

Yeah, if I had no videos on my iPhone, it would have a ton of free space with 32gb.

For people who load a lot of video onto their iPad, they will need more storage--unless they don't rip their videos at full size or download HD videos from iTunes. iPhone videos are what--480x320?

I expect my iPad will fill up more than my iPhone in some areas, but I don't plan on loading it with music except for maybe a few of my favorite play lists for craps and giggles. I do plan on loading more photos, writing more documents, doing more sketches, and watching more video on it than my iPhone, but unlike my iPhone I only plan on keeping a couple movies on it at a time. No need to waste huge chunks of space. I'll just sync it when I need it. I just load up my iPhone with video because I can get away with it and still have 8gb to spare. I have reserved a 32gb iPad and am hoping to leave at least 8gb for spare room on the device for creation. Plus the WIFI version doesn't have GPS so I won't be loading my Navigon on there wasting another 1.4gb; though that would be sweet and if I can find a GPS dock connector for $20 I might do it!
