Hey, do you think we will be able to pre-authorize the delivery like you can with other apple store purchases... the last thing I want is for me to just happen to be out getting a coffee or groceries when the thing is delivered and I have a card to pick the thing up from the depot in the week...

Even if Apple doesn't provide a slip for you to print out and pre-sign I always just write out my own note saying that "I authorize package with tracking and order number xx to be left at my door bla bla bla" and sign it. They take it. It always works.

I guess it will unless Apple does something like they did for my iPhone replacement. It came via Fed Ex, I wasn't home, the slip had specific instructions about me signing for it "directly", would not allow me to leave my signature on the form (that space was marked "void") for them to just leave the package.

What could be more important than waiting for the ipad to come?

I'll be on the front porch until mine comes.

Did you TRY to write your own slip providing all possible information. This has never failed for me. And when I get home the slip is gone so I know they take it to protect themselves.

I work 12 hours shifts every Saturday and Sunday of my life......

Depends on where you live.

The delivery companies have different rules depending on what neighborhood you live in. Probably based on insurance claim and other actuarial stats.

The rules are usually secret because they don't want certain people shadowing the delivery trucks into the "good" neighborhoods.

I used to leave my signature and a tiny note for UPS so they would leave the package, I believe that would work for FedEx. If your in a Apartment tell them to take it to the office, if at a home to put it in a secure place.

Funny that you say that because tomorrow and monday I am taking a PDO (Paid day off) because I'm moving.

First Ever, actually. I proabably have like 500 PDOs/

So you have plenty of day to take off one to sit and wait for the iPad.

Once the order is shipped you can go back to the order and get the form that allows you to pre-sign for it.

I have also left a note before and it worked.

just write your own note

when my first ipod touch came I didn't leave a note or anything but they left it by the back door:confused: and tracking said it would require a signature

My order status was just updated with a UPS tracking number and an option from Apple to pre-sign.

I would never pre-sign for a UPS delivery. On two occasions they have delivered items to the wrong house. Once was 2 houses down, the other time I have no clue where it was delivered.

Now HERE is a well-balanced outlook that I can endorse.

I have arranged, should my iPad not arrive on Saturday, to take a Mental Health Day on Monday from the private high school where, in less exigent circumstances, I would be teaching.

My morning class -- juniors and seniors studying Classical Lit -- will run itself, following a pre-set lesson plan. One of the senior boys will cover my afternoon class -- freshmen and sophomores studying American Lit. God knows, a high school senior can comment more expertly than I on the drunken party scenes in The Great Gatsby.

Meanwhile I shall station myself on the front porch awaiting the UPS guy, whose daughter my 17-year-old son Tristan dated for a couple of months. No hard feelings there, I hope.

If my iPad doesn't arrive on Saturday OR Monday, then obviously I will be incapacitated and unable to teach. That's what sick leave is for.

Breakfast with the freaken Easter Bunny.

LOL. I have to work all day Saturday and had the assumption the wife would be home to sign for it, but she's taking the kids to some crazy 100,000 easter egg helicopter drop. Sounds dangerous and less important than the iPad.
