Hi all,

thought I would try my hand a predicting Apple's 5 year roadmap and launch some interesting discussion. Here's what I reckon

Late 2011

iPhone 5
-8MP camera
-Dual core A5 processor
-Thinner, wider form factor
-Larger screen, same resolution.

Macbook Pro
- Air inspired design for all models
- 13" Macbook Pro dropped, making 11" 13" 15" 17" variants in the same range.
-Optial drive dropped
-SSD only

Mac Pro
- Sandy Bridge XEON refresh
- Octo core dual CPU
- Tweaked design, allowing for rackmounted or freestanding


Early 2012

iPad 3
- HiDPI (retina)
- Improved GPU/CPU
- Same form factor
- Slightly tapered design

Apple TV
- 1080p compatible
- iCloud streaming of content

iMac
- Ivy bridge refresh
- Same design
- Upgrade AMD graphics

Mid 2012

In late 2011 you might see a spec bump in MBP.
You may also see the addition of a 15" MBA.

Apple WILL continue to sell laptops with optical drives and HDD's into and through 2012. You might be right about the 13" though, i bet that goes down the same path as the white MB in a year or so.

Out of all the predictions I made, I figured the loss of optical drive would be the most likely thing to happen. What makes you think optical drive will remain in 2012?
