Say what you will about the design likely being the same, but there is always a tiny tweak of SOME sort year to year. Even the 3GS differed from the 3G in that the iPhone and regulatory text went from dull gray to reflective silver to match the Apple logo on the 3GS. The 6S was different from the 6 in that the phone was a tad thicker. The 7 changed the antenna bands, and the 8 is glass. Colors/shades have changed through the years too. Point being, there is ALWAYS at least a small design tweak year to year.

So what will be this year's tweak on the XS? My guess is the camera bump bezel will come up from the phone at a more natural 45 degree angle, like the 8, instead of the jarring 90 degree angle it currently is at on the X. Seemed like an odd design choice to me. Or perhaps the silver phone will become true white like the 4S (doubt it though).

What's your guess?

Reduced bezel all around seems likely from leaks which I would appreciate. Also, Jet Black would be epic.

Ya reduced bezels would add that little bit more width to the X screen but some are skeptical of this happening because In leaks of the 3 upcoming iphones the budget iphone has bigger bezels, making the bezels on the oled models seem narrower, so maybe we'll be surprised, time will tell.

It'll be a typical "S" update. Pretty much the same but updated stuff. Every "S" model has been a nice upgrade from the previous model.

Right, we already know this, but this is clearly a thread about possible physical design tweaks, of which there always are...

The 6 and 6s looked identical, except for Rose Gold.

Gold will be available on the three new models next month.

I heard the bezels on the 3rd model will be thicker and OLED will be same but who knows

They will eliminate the lightning charging port on the X/X+ For good because they believe in a wireless future.

The notch will be moved 1mm to the left

Lol, what?

I don't know about physical changes, but I'm expecting an upgraded camera - as is typical of every new iPhone; and a faster processor (obviously) but I don't think we'll see dramatic improvements again. The big selling point could be a Pro Motion display (120 Hz variable), making the phone seem that much more fluid. I can't see what else they can do at this point; maybe a 512 GB option?

This year is all going to be the plus size model, usual suspects like processor, Ram, screen clarity, and optimized software. Next year will be the actual S cycle with triple camera (minor design changes)

Last year in 2017 it was a rumored that a ‘blush gold’ iPhone was supposed to launch for the iPhone X, and that never happened. I could see this color being a reality at one point, as it seems like something Apple could release for more of a neutral color for gold this year.

I like this color personally.

Oh Mylanta! Waaaaaaaaaaaaant. I like this over Rose Gold, and Rose Gold is my favorite color that Apple has ever offered.

I would definitely upgrade this year if this color launched. Rose Gold was my favorite color and I miss seeing it.

I think it's quite likely we will see some return of gold/rose gold. As for me, if I do upgrade, it'll be silver again. The silver is just so nice, I can never get away from it...except that one year I bought my 6 in black. I kinda wanted a black front this year with my 8 just to change it up but the white/silver won out again, plus with all the X models having a black front I figured I'd enjoy the white front one last time...next phone will likely be a white/silver with a black front.

3G: White/Silver
4S: White/Silver
5: White/Silver
6: Space Gray (was very light that year anyway)
SE: White/Silver
8: White/Silver

The rose gold stainless steal on the 6.5" X . . . will be so clean if they release this color option.

I’m actually really hoping they don’t tweak anything. I’m in love with the design of the silver X and want one - but waiting for the refresh.

Re: the gold colour option. Really not sure it would look good from the front if the steel band was gold - black front and gold trim might seem a little gaudy.

IPhone XS doesn’t seem to have any barn burning changes other than a faster A12 chip, an improved Camera and a Polished iOS 11 which will be the upcoming iOS 12

Size this year will be a big selling point
Hopefully Apple will put a bigger battery in it
Don’t expect to much and you won’t be disappointed

The minor tweak was that the 6S used a higher grade of aluminum to mitigate the effects of Bendgate.

True. It went from the 6000 series to the 7000 series aluminum for the 6s, which is much stronger. And as I’m sure you know, it’s the same 7000 series that’s used for the aluminum sport model Apple Watch.
