We will find out on Wednesday.

The prices might leak out before then.

For comparison, Google sells the 16GB Nexus 5 at $349 and the 32GB Nexus 5 at $399.

Both Google and Amazon sells their flagship 7" tablet at $229. Which mean it is likely that Amazon 3D phone will mirror the Nexus 5 prices. Maybe.

I think $299 is the most expensive it will be. In typical amazon fashion, they will make their profit from the app store and most likely a massive influx of amazon prime subscribers.

Kindle Flame will be the name of the device.

maybe...

Kindle (ereader)
Kindle Fire (tablet)
Kindle Flame (smartphone)

No specs leaked yet. Though the rumor did say a 4.7" screen.

Look about right from this captured image from the "teaser"

a better place
Considering they gave me almost $40 in Amazon Coins credit - $99.99.

Some of us spend at least $100 on Amazon every month.

I spend much more than that ...... But we don't get any benefits back here. Indeed though they will let me sign up to Anazon prime for €100 per year, there are No amazon prime video, no music, no express shipping options either .....

The latest rumor is that the phone will be an AT&T exclusive. Talk about a mistake if it is true.

It's going to be interesting.

I definitely rate that Bezos chap highly and it could shake things up.

Price wise, they could offer a cheap one with ads. No matter what, I'd expect them to subsidise it heavily.

"The Kindle Flame - your $99 3D smartphone with Prime included."

Yeah, but hopefully not with the added bonus of, "on a two year contract only on AT&T"

That's what they said about the iPhone, is it not?

Way different era in the phone industry. Moto found it out recently with the moto x being exclusive for as long as it was.

The amazon phone is already sure to be a niche product and if they limit further it probably will suffer.

Ouch! Why even sign up? That sucks. Here in the US, just with express shipping it's worth it; add to that, prime videos, deals, and now, prime music and it's pretty sweet.

$249 (I would pay, if it's gimped like their fires - rumored 3D sounds weird). We'll see...

I'm thinking 400 off contract easy, possibly higher.

Phones are expensive now a days and I don't think any company is producing a top tier smart phone and selling that for 249.

My Nokia Lumia Icon is 500 off contract, if any company was looking to entice buyers its Nokia and yet their phones are just as expensive. My point, its going to be high.

The only monkey wrench in the equation is that Amazon doesn't care if they lose money. They broke even if at a slight loss on the original Kindle Fire and continue to do so. All their devices have one GOAL. They are designed to make them money via buying more stuff on their website (which data backs that up) and selling Prime memberships (which data backs that up as well).

So Amazon has data to prove that they make more money by selling you a device because it encourages you to buy more from the thru convenience and services on offer.

I'm interested once I find out what packages are being offered. I'm currently with Straight Talk and i'll consider Amazon if I can get more value and if it's priced similar to Straight Talk which also uses ATT.

Att will be the exclusive cell carrier in USA.

http://www.usatoday.com/story/tech/2014/06/17/amazon-smartphone-att/10656117/

This has the making of the Facebook flop last year called the HTC "first" which att tried to sell for $99 on contract than "free" on contract.

I hope that just means they are the only "official" carrier of the phone. It may also be sold unlocked directly from amazon and just be a GSM phone that can work with all GSM carriers, but will not be sold in stores (similar to how the nexus 5 was with sprint at first). If it is $199 on contract with AT&T, that means it will be way to expensive contract free. I am hoping for a $99 phone with a contract or $300ish unlocked.

Looks like the exclusive with AT&T is 100% confirmed.

Does this mean that Amazon might not even sell it unlocked on Amazon for T-Mobile/MVNO users?

Wasted opportunity if true.

AT&T can have exclusive in stores.
Amazon can still sell online on Amazon off-contract to T-Mobile users.

Looks like they're not about to lose money since they're charging 649. Way more then what any of us were thinking. I also believe this to be a mistake given the crowded playing field they're entering and being late to the party.
