As we already have a 27" iMac, this won't be happening.

The 27" iMac screen has only slightly less vertical resolution than a standalone 30" monitor, and while I prefer 16:10 to 16:9, the 27" iMac will not be superseded by a 30" due to the iMac's pitch as a media machine.

Recent rumors also point to a 27" standalone display as the replacement for the aging 30" Cinema Display instead of a new 30" screen, further refuting the idea of a 30" iMac.

just as the 24 morphed into the 27, i would think the 27 will morph into the 30...no?

Doubtful for several reasons. First because the 27" has just made its appearance. The 24" existed for three years before becoming the 27", and the 20" had been around since the iMac G4.

Secondly because Apple has moved to 16:9 for the iMacs, and no 30" panels exist that are anything but 16:10.

I predict there will definitely be a 30" iMac. It's more a question of when than if

Personally I think the 27" Imac is pushing the envelope for the space a typical home user has for a machine. I already think the 27" is probably a bit too much for most. I couldn't see Apple going bigger. But I hope I'm wrong. :)

Or maybe an iMac in the formfactor of a projector with computer innards, but projects a 10,000x5,000 resolution screen for your whole wall.

I'd prefer we get a 24" back...

The screen-jump from 21.5" to 27" is just too big. 27" is too large for my workspace, but 21.5" is just a tad too small for my photography work.

I'd take an increase in resolution over an increase in size any day. That said, the 27" is here to stay for at least 3 more years.

isnt 27 big enough i sit besides a 24inch and iam losing my sight slowly don't get me started with 3d tv lol 2500x1600 would improve the screen display and the content it presents.

a matt screen display will help please apple get rid of the shiny screen!!!

How about a 27" or any other size for that matter, with an upgradeable hard drive, gpu, and processor. Oh and bluray, and USB 3.0. Yep that would be the PERFECT computer. Come on Steve please don't disappoint me
