Prefer iPad to MacBook Pro

My 25 year old daughter is playing with my iPad so I am using my MacBook.
The MBP seems so clunky in comparison to the iPad.

For surfing the web, checking out YouTube or e-mail and networking it is hard to beat how nimble the iPad feels and behaves.

I'm the same way. I use both my iPad and MacBook everyday but for tasks that the iPad can do it's more enjoyable to use the iPad over a MacBook.
 
I Have hardly touched my MBP sine I got my iPad, only for burning DVDs and when my daughter has taken over the iPad. Thinking about getting her her own just so she'll leave mine alone.
 
I'm pretty sure that once I get my mitts on an iPad then the use that my MBP sees will plummet. especially over the summer when I wont have any work for uni to be getting on with.
 
My poor little MBAir has been relegated to torrent duty at night...that's about it, besides a little terminal goofing around..

iPad=win
 
A friend recently borrowed my MacBook to do some video editing, and I've been living with no computer in my house except an iPad for the last 3 days.

And all I have to say is - the iPad is truly a real computer. For the things it can do, it gets those things done even faster and snappier than my MacBook, which is hugely superior in terms of specs. I can see myself being on the iPad 90% of the time even after getting the MacBook back.

Truly, Apple has shown me what the future of computing should be like. Being able to do so much with only 256MB RAM is baffling. The simplicity and beauty of the software is brilliant.
 
...it's basically a larger ipod...you must not have used your MBP that much beforehand.
 
I wouldn't go that far. I use my mbp for docs, photo editing and a world of other stuff my iPad cannot do. But for surfing or email my computer isn't being used unless I'm doing something else at that moment that the iPad can't do.
 
I'm on my MBP right now, multitasking my *** off. When I want to get stuff done, mbp. iPad is cool, especially mobile, but I still got love for the Keyboard and Mouse.

Whatever floats your boat.
 
While using my iPad, i was all set to make a post here about a case and attach a picture until I wasn't able to, all the "browse file" buttons were grayed out...so back to the macbook for picture attaching..
 
I only use my ipad when im at work or when im out. Once i get home i toss it on the desk and use my desktop. I couldnt live with just an ipad, do too much to restrict myself to just the ipad.

For some i could see it working. I gave mine to my wife to try for a few days but she didnt like it. For her the HP netbook i bought her is better.

If all you do is consume content and surf the web the ipad is great
 
As several posters have pointed out, the iPad has limitations (presently).
In fact I stated that it is very nimble for the web, email etc.

I still use my iMac for heavy lifting. The iPad is not about heavy lifting. Folks need to accept it's great utility and design. It's certainly not meant to be a netbook. I don't need a netbook, i.e, a shrunken laptop IMO. To me, the 13" Macbook is small enough.

Same with me. I use my iMac for web design, photo editing, managing all my media on all my devices, editing movies, drawing with my tablet, coding- obviously all those things are things you do on a computer computer. The iPad is for lighter things; movies, email, calendars, playing games, and even though people are saying otherwise, I'd gladly rather leisurely type a long paper or long email on the iPad with Pages or in Mail.
 
Thinking that my MBP may get lonely with the new mistress in town. Sort of how my iMac got use to having the MBP to replace replace her.

In the end really I can see myself only using the MBP when I need the power that it provides when I need to travel. Otherwise the iPad will be there almost always.
 
My MBP used to get a daily work out, but since I bought my iPad, the poor thing is spending a lot time in it's bag. Like others, I'm using my iMac for the heavy lifting, and the iPad for everything else. It's so slick and fast and just plain cool. If I could do just a few more things with it, the MBP would be on eBay.
