Hi Guys,

I hav ejust switched form my mid 2011 Imac to a new machine a 2020 21.5 iMac. All is operating fine with the exception of preferences. I keep getting Preference Error notifications. First noticed this with Time Machine a is had an error come up regarding Time Machine back up even though at the time I could see Time machine was backing ups at the time. This error occurs no matters what preference I select. Any idea as to why this is happening.?

For information I set up new machine using migration assistant which went fine and time machine back ups are made to an external drive.

Cheers

Justin.

Hi Guys, right, I looke don the web and there was a solution to delete the systempref.plist which I did and restarted and now all seems fine although it doesn't look as though there is now a plist of prefs in the library files, is that an issue or would the replacement plist have been dropped elsewhere?

If deleting the prefs (plist) file worked for you...

... then I'd consider the problem solved (at least for now), and wouldn't trouble myself with it further.
