Tablets Preferred Android Tablet(fall 2013 edition)

Looking to jump the ship from my iPad 2 over to one of the tablets above.

Deciding between the Kindle Fire HDX 8.9(64gb), Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 edition(32GB), Xperia Tablet Z(32GB), and the New Nexus 10(whenever that comes out).

Reason I like the Kindle Fire HDX is the amazon ecosystem. That and having the ability to download movies from instant video onto the device. I also like the orientation as it seems closest to the iPad's 4:3 screen. Right now though, I want the ability to type notes and possibly write down onto notes, which is the reason for looking at the second on my list.

Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition. I like the S-Pen features. I would primarily want to write on pdfs. Is movie management ok? I wouldnt be using the feature too much, but would like to sync movies from my computer easily to the device.

Xperia Tablet Z - havent looked too much into it. Build quality looks great but seems on par, maybe short of the galaxy note 10.1 2014.

Nexus 10 2013 edition - not sure what will be changed. Just like the fact that it is stock android and releases come out quickly. Not sure how frequent updates are for the kindle, note, and tablet z.

Any suggestions? What are you views if any of you own one or have one preordered? What are your views of the previous versions of these devices?

I have a Note 10.1, got it instead of another iPad primarily due to the S-Pen functionality and it doesn't disappoint. Hardware is superb (display is stunning!!), performance is generally lag free (My Magazine app lags and my initial use of the Gallery app also lagged but has since improved). Movie management is simple--either plug in a microSD card to your computer and drag and drop any video files onto it, insert into your Note 10.1 and watch on your video player of choice, or you can use apps like AirDroid, iSyncr, DoubleTwist to so the same drag and drop wirelessly (AirDroid) or sync with iTunes (iSyncr, DoubleTwist).

If you're heavy into the Amazon ecosystem for media you may want to stick with the Fire tablets. Unfortunately, Amazon hasn't offered the same streaming app for Android that is available for iOS so you wouldn't have easy access using the Note or Nexus.

I cannot see any benefit of getting the Sony tab vs. either the Note 10.1 or upcoming Nexus 10, unless you have a preference for their hardware and actually use their own media ecosystem.

Me personally, if I wasn't looking for the S-Pen or stylus functionality and was in the market for a 10 tab, I'd probably be leaning towards a new iPad as the quality of tablet apps in Android hasn't yet matched the phone apps.

If you're heavy into the Amazon ecosystem for media you may want to stick with the Fire tablets. Unfortunately, Amazon hasn't offered the same streaming app for Android that is available for iOS so you wouldn't have easy access using the Note or Nexus.

I just get the free movies off of prime, never rent. I also have plenty I stored on iTunes, but can sync them anywhere

I'm partial to the Asus Transformer family of tablets. The latest one is the Asus Transformer Pad TF701T. The detailed specs are here: http://www.gsmarena.com/asus_transformer_pad_tf701t-5493.php

The reason I like the Transformer is that it has the best keyboard dock of any tablet. If you plan to do any significant amount of typing on your tablet, you should definitely consider a Transformer.

Since I'd most likely install an AOSP ROM, Nexus makes the most sense to me. Love the ability to unlock the bootloader and start flashing immediately out of the box.

Nexus 7 for 7 inchers, the new nexus 10 due out a few weeks for 10 inch.

I'm eyeing the Note, Xperia, and upcoming Nexus very carefully as all three fall into what I'd like and need in a tablet. I've played with the Xperia and Note but am leaning towards the Note for it's future proofing 3GB ram and all the free stuff that comes with it.

Kindle Fire HDX for me. I find the Kindle OS really easy to do what I need to do as loading tv shows and stuff is a quicker process than it is on even the iPad. Plus, the displays sounds fantastically high resolution, which should make reading more pleasurable as well.

Nexus 7 (2013 model) for me. Best tablet you can get for that price. Blows the doors off more expensive models. Screen is sort of small, but I got over that once I realized how perfect it is. For $229 for the 16gb model it's a steal.
