Despite the trend toward large prints, a small 6 x 9 is my favorite print size. I like being able to see the overarching form and composition throughout the frame easily. Am I alone? What is your preferred print size?

Image size 11x14 on 13x19 A3+ paper. Frames and matts are easy to acquire and relatively inexpensive. Also it is large enough for an exhibition.

I don’t print much for whatever reason. When I do, it’s usually 4x6 or 5x7 for the grandparents or the multi-frame. I’ve debated doing a canvass from Shutterfly, but have yet to pull the trigger.

It is always going to depend on the photo itself and I do think that smaller prints can draw the viewer in, but I do like a big print. Its great to see all the detail in the image as well as having a bold impact - something a screen never really manages. It is nice to see people step back to take it all in and then lean forward to see the details.

Each to his own though. The worst thing is to see a gallery full of identically sized prints, where no thought has gone into individual presentation and everything looks the same.

4x6...same 2:3 aspect ratio as the camera and don't have to crop to fit. That is probably my 2nd favorite size and one used for consistency/review. My favorite size is whatever size people want to pay for. Who am I to argue, and in that case I do the specific crop (including creating wraparound overlap on canvas if not using solid color) to that size which is the one I send to the printer.

8x10 is my favourite balance between size and ease of print on A4 paper. Majority of prints are 6x4 for my wife to scrapbook. Looking to move towards a few photo books - done some for special occasions but a good idea for bringing together commonly themed photos.
