Hi guys,
I've ordered a new MacBook with preinstalled iWork, but I plan on restoring the new computer from my existing time machine backup, what effect will that have on the iWork software that I ordered preinstalled?

Will it be available to download again from the App Store or should I set my MacBook up as new and copy the .app files to a harddrive before I restore from time machine?

Can't seem to find anything specifically about this anywhere on the net

Thanks for any help!

When you say restore, do you mean import from the Time Machine backup during the OS X setup phase?

If this is what you mean, there should be no issue.

If you're going to do a TM restore via Internet Recovery my recommendation would be to set up the Mac as shipped make sure it is working alright before doing the restore, log in to the Mac App store. When you log in to the Mac App store, iPhoto/etc grant you licenses based on the new Mac purchase. I suspect it may now work the same way for preinstalled iWork apps.

Yes I'm talking about importing everything during the new machine set up process, so you think it should be alright doing it that way?

If you are talking about using Migration Assistant during the new machine setup, then yes... you will be fine. I have used MA a couple times and each time the iWork apps came over complete with licensing info intact.
