PremierePro for MacOSX

The last version of premiere to come out for mac is 6.5. If I were you I would really try to get into Final Cut Pro. Once you get used to FCP it really it easy and its a lot more powerful.

I don't think Adobe will be releasing Premiere for the Mac again. They stopped because everybody switched to Final Cut Pro, and there was no demand for Premiere on the Mac anymore. If the things I've read are true, Final Cut Pro is the most popular NLE in the world right now. Seeing as how its a Mac-only application, that's really saying something about its quality. I used Premiere for 3+ years on a PC, and switched to FCP a few months after I bought my first Mac. FCP is much more powerful, and I believe easier to use as well. If you're looking for something a little less expensive than FCP, check out Final Cut Express. It's got the same interface as FCP; it's just missing some of the pro features that FCP has.

I agree 100% (except that I used Premier on the Mac). FCP is more powerful and after having switched I never looked back.

Premiere? Ew. I guess everybody has a personal preference, but FCP blows it away in all respects. If you can't afford it, FCE is still pretty good. Even iMovie.

True, I would use iMovie before going back to Premiere.

The manuals (there are three of them) included with FCP are absolutely excellent. They are written with specific content for FCP as well as very general technical information that is relevant to anybody using any NLE. Apple also sells training material, and in fact you can take certification tests for FCP. This site is an amazing resource for FCP users. There are definitely video tutorials available for FCP, perhaps not from Total Training, but there are other companies that do the same kind of thing.

Apple has a good training series out for all their software. The FCP book is entitled, Apple Pro Training Series: Final Cut Pro 5 (Apple Pro Training Series). You should also note that the application comes with, in my opinion, the best set of reference manuals available (thank you Apple for not going pdf like so many others have) I have FC Studio and there are a total of 8 books that came with it, 5 of which belong just to FCP. The books range from basics to advanced editing and compositing. The training series is good because they teach you process and also some basic effects. Once you are then done with the basic training there are other books on advanced topics.
