I just ordered the 12.9 iPad Pro from B&H
I was all set on Friday to order the 11 inch from apple. I got in the queue just a few minuets after the pre order opened up and snagged me a 11 inch with a May shipping date.
However I was not set with my order and ended up canceling it. decided to get the 12.9 this generation (a bit late I know).
of course by the time I changed my mind there were no more stocks for the 12.9 before July.

Anyway I started looking, and noticed that B&H seem to have stock to deliver in May if you order from them.
So what do you think, is it possible that they will actually have iPad to ship in May?
Or is it just a case of incorrect delivery time on their website?

Note, it says the following on all their configurations:

"Expected availability - shipping will begin Mon May 24"

Also, the fine print:

"This is a new item and is released by the manufacturer in limited quantities. B&H will ship it out on a first-come-first-serve basis."

You don't know how far behind you are on the B&H queue. Personally, I'd rather take my chances with Apple. They often deliver earlier than estimated.

Perhaps you can also try Amazon or Best Buy? It seems like if they have a count of initial stock and they mark configurations as sold out/unavailable when they run out of their allottments.

Is there a Best Buy where they live?
Best Buy's website just says: release date: not announced.
I also have a standing order at Apple (It ships in July). I figure that I'll monitor both orders. if the the one from B&H ships at May than I'll go with that. If it starts to drag in to June, then I'll cancel it and go with the Apple one.

For what it's worth, when I pre-ordered my iPad Pro 9.7 from B&H, it took almost a month after release date before they shipped. I was okay with it since I was saving almost $100 on sales tax.

I expect Amazon and Best Buy have bigger accounts with Apple and are more likely to receive their orders on schedule. Plus as mentioned earlier, AMZN and BBY seem to be marking configurations as unavailable when they run out of their estimated launch allotment. I would trust these two more than B&H to get shipments on time.

Well if the shipping date will start to dip into June then I'll just cancel the B&H order and get it from Apple.

The great thing about BH is if you use their credit card they pay your sales tax. The really bad thing about BH is that it is a total mystery about when you are going to get your product. They give you no estimate nor will they tell you where you are in the queue. Its frustrating but I decided it was worth it.

It would be great if other people with BH orders posted so we could see when they are shipping.

I placed my order with B&H the exact day of the pre order April 30th within the launch 8:00am EST. I was so excited and I was told today my order was on backorder before the iPad Pro 2021 was supposed to be shipped May 24th.(tomorrow)

I sent an email and even called because I was looking to do a video review and unboxing of the item online. Wish I had found this forum sooner because I would not have ordered with B&H if I knew about their lack of transparency with backorders.

I have no idea when my order will arrive now. Completely in the dark.

The other aspect of B&H is their return policy is not as good as Apple's. There are no returns unless the iPad arrives damaged or does not work properly.

Wow, that kind of return policy sounds like a scam. I would expect 30 -60 days at least. Guess I’ll just be waiting 4-6 weeks for this item to ship.

B&H is a solid business with a good reputation. I have bought from them before, although that was before I had to pay tax. As long as you are sure about what you want, the return policy come into play. With Apple, if you decide you overspend or just don't like the device, you can return with no questions asked during the 14 day period. Not so with B&H.

Good point. I’ve ordered Apple products from them before, and it is a hassle if you have to return. Not worth it.
