I've just erased and re-installed the OS on my mini and have reached the stage where it's asking me to choose which country to select. I've stopped right there and shut down.

I actually took it to the stage where it asked me to enter my apple ID but didn't do so, I rolled back to 'select country' and shut down.

I'm assuming the new owner will pick it up from that point or............do I have to enter my apple ID to enter my apple ID before the new owner can carry on from this point?

You have done everything right.

The only thing left to do is log in to iCloud, and remove it completely from your account (In Find My iPhone, and from your main Apple ID page)

Thanks. Just done that. It says it will re-appear in the list if it connects to the net again. I assume it won't right as it won't be using my apple ID right?

(I still have a macbook Air at present)

Shouldn't you have "logged it out" of iCloud BEFORE you erased it?

(not sure, I have no presence in iCloud)

I have always done this in the past.
Log out of icloud first and then erase and reinstall the OS.....

I would do it that way, but it doesn't matter. He can remove that computer from his account from Safari on another computer.

You can remove it from your account via Safari etc, but once the mini is switched on and connected to wifi it will re-appear in your list again. You need to remove the device from your list by actually logging off on the device itself.
