Ok, I have a 2 iPhone, 3 Mac, 1 iPad household shared between my wife and I. We currently use MobileMe and share 100% everything, calendars AND contacts as well as our iTunes store account for music/apps.

What do you all recommend for tomorrow?

1. How do I backup my iOS devices AND Macs (besides the obvious iTunes/TimeMachine) so that if this all goes to hell we still have a clean set of calendar/contacts?

2. It seems like if I understand this correctly we will KEEP our iTunes store account but create 2 different, new iCloud accounts one for my wife and one for me? That way my phone will still get apps/music from the iTunes account I share with my wife but my 3rd party app backups, docs, etc. can be separate from my wife. Is that the right way to do it?

3. How do we solve the "contacts" problem. I know you can share Calendars under iCloud, but it seems if my wife don't have the same iCloud ID we can't share contacts which is darn hassle if I want all our Apple devices to keep the contacts the same.

4. What would be the downside if my wife and I shared ONE iCloud account? Would the account be smart enough to keep the unique app/backup/profiles of each iOS device unique or do I *have* to have a unique iCloud account for each iOS device?

Really confused about how I go from MobileMe to iCloud. Thanks.

I am in the same boat as you and would really like to hear any and all input about this subject.

Things I wonder about - I have a Mac, an iPad and an iPhone. What order should I setup and sync with iCloud or does it matter? Should I uninstall Mobile Me before setting up iCloud? How do I make sure I don't get duplicates with my Calendar and Contacts?

If you upgrade using the Mac you will be sent to the /move page for MobileMe. It will give you a few bits on info and offer advice on making sure you're backed up. Hit the 'Go' button and all you iDevices will show a notification stating that you've moved to iCloud.

That's it, it just works.
