I'm going to sell my 3gs before the 4g comes out and then get the new 4g.

I've had an invisishield on since day one and the screen has never been touched. I've also had a frog case. Which caused some minor scratching to to bezel in certian places but overall kept the phone in perfect shape. Never been exposed to the inside of a bathroom, beach or anything humid or water hazaedish. Right now I've been running 3.0.1 unlocked. This phone is running whatever baseband came on it when it originally came out in June July. Should I have all original boxing, but maybe not the headphones.

Anyway. What steps should I take to sell my phone jailbroken and unlocked without having any of my information attainable?

Restore it and leave it jailbroken. If you check eBay a jailbroken iPhone sells for £100 avg more than a standard iPhone.

3.1 and 3.1.2. What does that mean and what were you looking for?

It means Saurik's server stored your SHSH blobs via Cydia. Since Apple is no longer signing the 3.1 and 3.1.2 IPSW's, you can modify your hosts file and still restore to either 3.1 or 3.1.2. Without those SHSH files, you can never restore, just upgrade to 3.1.3.

You are sitting in a great spot. Just don't upgrade to 3.1.3 or your baseband will be updated to an un-lockable version.

That's great. It means that even though Apple will no longer sign the 3.1 and 3.1.2 firmwares, you will still be able to restore your phone to those firmwares should something go wrong with it in the future (and preserve your ability to jailbreak). It would be better if you also had 3.0 on file, but this is good.

To prep your phone for sale, I suggest you restore it to a custom 3.1.2 firmware made with PwnageTool (not the official firmware from Apple). Be sure to set up as new rather than restore from your backup. You will probably then want to unlock your phone using ultrasn0w. iClarified has great tutorials on all of this.

You can then advertise your phone as having baseband 4.26.08 (a huge selling point), the 359.3 version of iBoot (another huge selling point), and SHSH on file for 3.1 and 3.1.2 in addition to having an untethered jailbreak and being unlocked with ultrasn0w (more reliable than blacksn0w).

I think the going rate for such a phone in excellent condition with original packaging and all accessories on eBay is around $500 (16GB) or $600 (32GB). You should easily make your money back.

3.0.1 and I go way back. I'm sticking with em

The only problem with that is that you will not be able to restore your phone to 3.0.1 before you sell it. You can try Erase All Content and Settings, but that usually results in a phone stuck in DFU mode and the need to restore. If that happens, you will want to be very careful under no circumstances to upgrade to 3.1.3. You should look into modifying your .hosts file to point to Saurik's server in case you ever need to restore.

Thats great.
You should be able to get some decent money for it when you're ready to sell it for the new model.
You have an untethered JB and also can unlock it and have saved SHSH's thru cydia.
Just make sure you dont update it to the latest 3.1.3 firmware cause it wont work on any network but AT&T's so no unlock.
Unlocked iphones sell for more than locked.

that + saurik stored SHSH = makes it more valuable than the current 3.1.3 Iphone 3GS'

I would wait to sell your phone until the 4th gen iPhone is announced

( you may lose a bit of money, but the you don't risk the chance that the 4th gen iphone is unjailbreakable)
