I’m trading in my iphone for a 12 pro through Verizon’s trade in program. Haven’t done this in a long time so just want to make sure I’m doing everything right.

do I just backup my current iPhone to iCloud, and then reset the phone to factory defaults? Some people say to disable “find my iPhone first” but doesn’t resetting do this and log you out of all your accounts?

Also, Once I backup should I first do the transfer to my new iPhone and after it goes over well, then reset my old phone?

I ask because I had issues years ago where something went wrong with backing up and I lost all my contacts and settings when I transferred to new phone.

anything else you suggest I do? I’m under the impression resetting the phone to factory defaults takes care of everything...

Appreciete the help!

Backup your old iPhone and then set up your new iPhone first to make sure everything has moved across properly.

Then disable find my iPhone, if for any reason its still turned on they will send that phone straight back to you.

Then "Erase all content and settings"
