Preproduction Xserve

Has anyone else noticed that Apple talks about "preproduction" Xserves at Mac OS X Server performance comparison page?

They also mention Xserve with 48GB RAM while current tech. specs list 32GB as supported maximum.

Does this mean Apple is going to update Xserves soon?

I am SO glad that I tabbed this thread; I was just about to post this.

The... "limit" isn't real. It's just the limit of affordable RAM.

Since 8GB sticks aren't really cost-effective, they're not widely available (for example, at OWC).

If you notice the XServe specs, it says:

System supports up to 32GB in Mac OS X Server v10.5

So it is possible that 10.6 increases the limit.
