As you can see in the photo and video below, there is screen distortion in a single spot on my iPad Air 4. Starting on the left side of the screen while in portrait mode - it is about 3.5 inches down and about one inch in. It’s not visible when lightly tapping, but if I, for example, rest my hand near the spot when writing on the iPad, the distortion is visible.

Is this something that it is worth returning and replacing the iPad for? Or will the replacement very likely have the same issue? With the Apple Stores closed I can’t see if the display units have this issue or not. It would probably be about $30 to get a replacement from Amazon (repurchase new iPad, new screen protector, restocking, etc), so I don’t know if I should do it or not. Thanks!

Out of curiosity where exactly is it physically, i.e. distance from upper left corner in portrait orientation?

Starting at the upper left corner while in portrait mode - about 3.5 inches down and 1 inch inwards.

My wife’s Air 4 doesn’t have that but in a couple of other locations along the top (about 1” from the top, 1” from the left) I’ll get a spot pop up if I put what I’d call moderate pressure on the display. Slightly more pressure than I would doing touch input.

My 11in Pro Second Gen has something similar. Not easy to replicate; just learned to ignore it. It's mostly visible like you said when writing with Apple Pencil.

Does it look the same on your wife’s iPad, just in different locations? Or is it not as noticeable on yours?

How similar is it? I’m just trying to determine if it’s worth trying to return and replace or not. If this issue is prevalent with iPads, it probably isn’t worth the effort.

Let me see if I can get a photo. Its more round but in same general area. In my assessment it was easy to ignore.

Does it do this without screen protector?
I haven’t tried without the screen protector. I put it on immediately after unboxing (it’s the sticker type of screen protector). I doubt it would be any different, though, as the screen protector is pretty thin. What do you think?

Its a sticker plastic one? if so don't worry about.
