My XS has the rough edges so I was at the mall and popped into the store. I showed the guy and he said he wanted to open the phone and take a look at the screen and why it does that I said I didnt care.

He comes back 15 min later and said he couldn't get the screws off and they are stripped. So I told them to either fix it or I want an exchange.

No warranty replacements yet, and the phone I had wasn't in stock. Was told to come back tomorrow for either a new phone or new screws when a better technician is in to remove them.

I was literally dumbfounded. Have had every iPhone since 2007 and never experienced this. In all honestly its funny but sad.

If anyone cares ill update how tomorrow goes.

You never mentioned if you purchased direct from Apple or another retailer.

I would *never* have allowed that technician to open the phone, they should just be replacing it simply because of the rough edges around the display, as clearly Apple never intended to be manufactured this. And personally, I wouldn’t accept anything less than getting a new device now simply because they stripped the screws and the rough edges.

Do you expect Apple to conjure a phone from the ether just because you want one? If it's not in stock, it's not in stock, however frustrating there would be.

You Definitely misread my post. It Has nothing to do if they have the phone in stock, I just would not have allowed them to attempt to open the phone when they simply can replace it when they have an available unit. {For the record}, at least six or seven other members had this ‘rough edges’ issue with their phones, and Apple his simply replaced the device without having open the phone and no questions asked.

Regardless, the phone should be replaced because it’s under 14 days anyways and it’s defective with the rough edges. There is no need to open the phone To determine that, which now, the store stripped the Pentalobe screws and it created an unnecesary situation.

Yes, if you meant "now" as in "after they messed up the screws" rather than "now" as "immediately" then I misread your post.

Wow!! That’s rubbish... that should be a simple straight no questions asked swap for a brand new unit. You dealt with a right idiot in the store, I would complain to the manager if you don’t get a new iPhone. They can easily order one from Apple for you!
You should not expect some technician to be trying to strip your 2 day brand new phone down to see what’s wrong!
