Acquisition is a great App, but while record companies are searching for people to sue I'll halt using it. Only because it shows the IP address of users and list of all their files. I might as well just email all record companies and tell them I'm sharing music and where they can send the subpeona.

from what i understand the RIAA is only (and can only) go after those who are providing the files. in other words, remove everything you download from your Shared folders right away and you'll be fine. obviously, over time if enough people are emptying their Shared folders there will be nothing left to download but i think that's a long way off. plus, there will always be something new just around the corner. no one will ever be able to stop filesharing, it's here forever. someday ALL the record companies will see that the CD is dying and they will bite the bullet and offer there music for cheap on the web. i haven't bought a CD in over a year and don't plan to ever again.

Even if the laws are ridiculous at times, I think it's prudent to pay for a CD and own full rights to the music and avoid any possibility of huge fines. If RIAA were to come after you, that would be much more expensive.

so why is the RIAA leaning on verizon? why not AOL? why not earthlink? why not more universities? i'd wager dollars to donuts there is more P2P action on university networks than on any commercial ISP.

Because they got lucky with a judge and he allowed them to go all out on verizon people, sucks for them.

I say BRING IT BABY!
