I have an iPhone, however now i can not afford paying the data fees. and plus, i really dont use it at all.

is there a way to take it off and leave it like that permanently? like a hack or something that would prevent AT&T from knowing i have an iphone or something like that so they wont forcibly put the plan on me again?

Nope, as soon as you use the phone on the AT&T network, it sends it's identifier and boom, AT&T knows.

There is a whole thread on this named "AT&T knows"
