This is more of a suggestion/wish for iPad OS.
I just read how Seton Hill University will be giving out an iPad to every full time student this fall, and how previous attempts like this, mainly Princeton giving out Kindle DX's have failed in the past because of a lack of an annotation tool.
As a full time student (dental school), I know how important it is to highlight, add notes, and so forth on PDF documents. That's why I use preview to do this, and it does such a fantastic job annotating. I even go so far as converting powerpoint files into PDF format so I can open them up in preview for the better annotation tool.
With that in mind, I think adding preview (or you can call it something else, like iNote or something) to the iPad OS would be the killer app for all students. Something like this probably exists in the app store, but if apple made it then I'm sure it would be integrated to and work well with the pages, keynote, numbers.
